THE “DEAD” SOUTH

Your adventure begins in Windhoek, Namibia’s capital city. After meeting your guide, you depart south-west through the scenic Khomas Hochland mountains, passing through small settlements and wide open landscapes typical of central Namibia.

The journey takes you through the edge of the Namib Desert toward Sossusvlei, located within Sossusvlei, one of Namibia’s most iconic natural areas.

Upon arrival at your lodge in the Sossusvlei region, enjoy time to relax and take in the dramatic desert scenery with all meals included.

An early start takes you into Sossusvlei at sunrise, where you explore iconic sites like Dune 45, Big Daddy, and Deadvlei while spotting a variety of desert bird species.
In the afternoon, you visit Sesriem Canyon for more birding before returning to your lodge for the evening with all meals included.

After breakfast you continue your journey south through the vast desert landscapes of southern Namibia.

The road passes through remote areas where desert plains stretch endlessly toward distant mountain ranges.

Your destination is Aus, a small settlement surrounded by the striking desert scenery of the Sperrgebiet region.

You stay at Klein Aus Vista, a lodge known for its beautiful views and peaceful desert setting.

In the afternoon enjoy a scenic hike through Geister Schlucht, a rugged desert canyon with fascinating rock formations and unique desert vegetation. All meals included.

After breakfast you travel west toward the historic coastal town of Lüderitz.

Your first stop is the famous ghost town of Kolmanskop, once a thriving diamond mining settlement. During a guided morning tour, you explore the abandoned houses slowly being reclaimed by the desert sands.

Continue to Lüderitz where you enjoy lunch at Agate Beach, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

In the afternoon return toward Aus with a stop at the Garub plains to search for the legendary desert wild horses, which have adapted to survive in this harsh desert environment.

Return to Klein Aus Vista for the evening with all meals included.

After breakfast you depart Aus and travel toward one of Namibia’s greatest natural wonders: Fish River Canyon.

Along the way you stop at the main canyon viewpoint, where the dramatic landscape of the canyon stretches for more than 160 km.

The Fish River Canyon is the second-largest canyon in the world, offering breathtaking panoramic views.

Your accommodation for the night is Canyon Roadhouse, part of the Gondwana Collection. The lodge is famous for its unique décor featuring vintage vehicles and desert memorabilia.

In the afternoon enjoy a guided game drive in the surrounding reserve. All meals included.

Start the day with a sunrise hike near the canyon area, where the morning light illuminates the dramatic desert landscape.

After breakfast you travel north toward Keetmanshoop, the main town of southern Namibia.

Stop for lunch at Weavers Nest Coffee Shop, a popular local café known for its homemade meals and relaxed atmosphere.

Continue north through wide open plains toward Mariental.

Your accommodation is Africa Safari Lodge, located on a private nature reserve.

In the late afternoon enjoy a guided walk on the reserve while learning about the local wildlife and environment. All meals included.

Your final day begins with an early morning game drive on the reserve around Africa Safari Lodge.

This activity offers the chance to see wildlife such as antelope, giraffe, and various bird species in the cool morning hours.

After breakfast you begin the return journey north to Windhoek, travelling through Namibia’s central plateau.

The tour concludes upon arrival in Windhoek in the afternoon. Breakfast included.
